The Hula Hoop Project:
I went to the Dollar Store and bought a Hula Hoop for a $1 then I went to AC Moore to get some Romantic Lace that I would cover the hula hoop in and also to use as the hanging pieces.... The Three rolls of Lace were also a $1!!! SCORE! I had "icicle" white lights in a Christmas Bin in the basement so I pulled those out and also my Hot Glue gun....Wrapped the lights around the hula hoop and covered up the purple and pink hula hoop with the lace! Hung it and Wholla!!! A Magical Romantic Super Cute "Hula Hoop" Chandelier!!! YIPPEEEE

ReplyDeleteHow did you hang the chandelier?
ReplyDeleteI had a plant hook (used for larger plants) that I used. I just twisted it into the ceiling and attached the hula hoop from the Lace Ribbon. :o)Its been hanging since I put it up there and seems to work really well :o)

Thank You Darlene and Thank you for Pinning!! :o) I stopped by your Blog and your Etsy shop, Love your work!!
DeleteWow! Your chandelier is adorable. Its warm color tone made your space look romantic. It’s ironic because the style of your lights reminds me of a winter snow flake crystal. I think that gave your light a very interesting twist.

Thank You Christian!! :o)
DeleteI was wondering, how did you manage to the lights to the wall outlet? without the cord hanging there, looking unsightly
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to be able to tuck it into the vinyl siding, The hula hoop chandelier is on my screened in sunporch. You can still see it but it is hidden the best I could. Unless you can have someone that can get the cord through the wall...which is tough for most. The best advise I can give is buy an extension cord that matches the wall the best so it's not so visible. :o)
Deletegenius!!!
ReplyDeleteThank You :o)
Deletethis would be a fun projects for my girls bedroom!
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea!! :o)
DeleteWhat a fantastic idea! Thanks sooo much for your creativity!! This is perfect- can't wait to go make mine!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rara :o) you are so sweet!!
DeleteAdorable! I have a huge back patio with ceiling fans, but one little section of lattice and no lighting. We were going to do a candle chandelier but now we're thinking of doing this instead. How many strands of lights did you use?
ReplyDeleteThat would be the perfect place for one! It's such a cheap idea for lighting. I bought the hula hoop at the dollar store and the ribbon at the craft store for 3 dollars! I only used one string of lights...they were the "icicle" kind that hang down. :)
DeleteThis is so pretty i made mine a couple weeks ago and finally hung it up today and it looks so pretty and was easy to make thank you. This is the first project i did from pinterest and i live how it turned out. Thank you again
ReplyDeleteThat is so Exciting April and you are so very welcome!! I'm so happy you made one...Do you have any pics?? I love looking at other versions of mine, so pretty :o) Enjoy Fall!!
DeleteI'm thinking of hanging one of these in my bedroom above my bed. Did you glue the lights to the hoop itself or did you just glue the lace?
ReplyDeleteHi Kelsey :o) I actually just wrapped the lights around, the lace I wrapped around too...every like 2 inches or so I would put a dot of hot glue for the lace just to be sure it would stay in place. Although overall it stayed pretty tight to the hula hoop, especially the lights :o)
DeleteThis post gives the light in which we can observe the reality. This is very nice one and gives indepth information. Thanks for sharing this nice article.colorado orthodontist

DeleteI think this would be fantastic to attach under a table umbrella for eating outside on a summer evening. Definitely going to try it once it gets warmer :) Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea Kristine!! :)
DeleteHula hoops are the classic toy that consists of a hollow plastic tube that can be tossed around your body. First inspired by the hula dancing of Hawaii, the toy has grown even more in popularity as tool a to help people lose weight.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about Hawaii, Thanks for the info :o)
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea for my chicken coop! I just love it!!! My "girls" need something romantic in their coop and this is perfect~no glass, nothing heavy and able to withstand the weather. :-) Thank you Sarah
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great idea for a chicken coop!! People have sent me pictures of them at weddings, bbqs, outdoor lighting and even in kids bedrooms...your idea might be the most unique!! Hi :) thanks for stopping by! I will def check out your site :)
DeleteI so want to do this in my daughter's room but am having a hard time trying to figure out how to get the cord to an outlet without the use of an extension cord, or a creative way to hide the cord. Showing the cord would really take away from it's beauty. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of trouble hiding the extension cord as well. Unless you are really crafty and know how to drill a hole and feed it through the wall it's going to be visible. I use mine on my sunporch so I was able to hide it a little along the siding. ;)
DeleteYou can cover any cord with the lace sewn into a cord cover. Then add an extra ceiling hook very close to the wall where the outlet is located.
