The
wool blankets have come out for the Fall/Winter. There is no better feeling
then snuggling under a warm cozy blanket when there is a crisp chill in the
air. I always have them dry cleaned
because I ruin them when I wash them and end up having to buy new ones
every year. With the amount of fall clothes I have to drop off at the dry
cleaners this week I decided to try and wash my blankets at home, with one
to start. It came out perfectly fresh and oh so comfy….
Here
are the steps to wash wool blankets at home that I used!
Things
You'll Need
- Gentle laundry detergent
- Large drying rack (optional)
Instructions
o
1
Place the wool
blanket into the washing machine. Set the
washing machine to wash a large load, the cycle to gentle and the water
temperature to cool. Add an appropriate amount of laundry detergent to the
washing machine and start it.
o
2
Monitor
the wash cycle and remove the wool blanket after approximately one minute into
the spin cycle. Longer spinning may distort the wool fibers.
o
3
Remove the
wool blanket from the washing machine and
shake it gently to remove the wrinkles.
o
4
Stretch
the wool blanket over the drying rack if possible. If you do not have a large
drying rack, set up four straight-backed chairs
to hold the blanket as you drape it over them. Allow the wool blanket to dry
completely before you put it away or use it.
